CAS Nutrition for Disease Prevention

Objectives

This course offers an advanced education with a main focus on the influence of nutrition on health, and its potential for prevention of diseases but also including additional aspects such as sports nutrition and nutritional physiology. CAS ETH Nutrition graduates are trained to distinguish and understand problems of nutrition while continuing to work in their field of expertise. This includes food industry, pharmacies, medicine, nutrition teaching and nutrition research.
 

Professional perspectives

Graduates will understand nutrition and its potential for disease prevention and will be able to apply this knowledge in their field of expertise. This can be food industry, pharmacies, medical practice, governmental or non-governmental organisations etc.
 

CAS Nutrition for disease prevention

Target audience

This programme targets graduates with a master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy or Movement Sciences.
 

Courses

The CAS ETH Nutrition programme is designed as part- time study during 2 semesters (1/2 - 1 day per week). The programme can be started every semester. Teaching is concentrated on Fridays in spring semester and on Thursdays in autumn semester. Total workload equals to approx. 300 hours including lectures, preparation time and exams. The title "Certificate of Advanced Studies ETH in Nutrition for Disease Prevention and Health" is awarded when 10 ECTS credits are achieved.

Recommended procedure for a successful application

Application period:

  • Autumn Semester: 1. April – 30 June
  • Spring Semester: 1 September – 30 November 

Admission:

Your application will be reviewed by the school for continuing education for formal completeness and by the program representatives regarding fulfillment of the program specific admission requirements mentioned above.

  • Applicants who cannot provide proof of sufficient knowledge and/or work experience will be declined.
  • The final decision is communicated in writing by the school for continuing education.
  • For students requiring a visa: This is a part-time study programme. Usually, the Swiss authorities do not issue student visas for part-time studies. The visa is required for the residence permit.
  • Programme fee: CHF 5’800 for the complete programme
  • Application fee: CHF 50 for persons with a Swiss university degree, CHF 150 for persons with another university degree (non-refundable, credit card payment only)
  • Withdrawal fee: CHF 0 up to 30 days after admission;  CHF 2’900 after 30 days upon admission; CHF 5800 after start of the programme
